Guest Blog by Alex Tempera

Hello,

I recently beta read Broken Walls by Alex Tempera and today she's a guest on my blog. I asked her a few questions about her super sexy romance.

What gave you the idea for a cop and firefighter to fall for each other?

Alex: I just recently started writing for this genre. I was in the middle of editing a story I had just finished, and I had two other projects on the horizon under my other penname. I was watching an old episode of Law and Order and there was a scene where one of the detectives was talking to a firefighter about something ... I don’t even remember what, but I thought what if they fell in love? At first, I didn’t think anything of it but then the thought grew. It grew so much that I had to stop the other projects I was working on and start writing. I had only put it in my idea pile but it just wouldn’t go away until I put it on paper. I fell in love with Mick and Ryan and their imperfections. I have a deep respect for police officers and firefighters and the work that they do. The story in all ways just seem to fall into place.

The theme of romance and walls runs through the story what gave you the idea for that?

Alex: I thought of myself and how I protect my own heart. I think that some of my own personal feelings are a lot like Mick. He closed his heart after being hurt and I think he fit in with Ryan because Ryan felt the same way. Though their pasts are totally different, their view on life and each was similar. They fit together. The brick walls were their own personal metaphor for allowing themselves to fall in love with each other, and when they did, they didn’t deny it. I didn’t want their love story to fall in to a mold as some other romances do, such as getting together, breaking up, and getting back together. Though they have rough patches, it brings them closer together and they don’t have to break up to do that.

Will we be be seeing any more of Mick and Ryan, do you plan on writing any more stories about them?

Alex: I think there is an opening for more Mick and Ryan, and even some of the other supporting characters. I have a few ideas on the horizon, but I would love to write more about Mick and Ryan. From the moment they fell in love with each other, I fell in love with them. There could be more Mick and Ryan and their small town of Broken Bridge.
